Spazio IT has delivered several server installations able to support software stacks like:
- OpenACS software stack: Aolserver, TCL, PostgreSQL/Oracle
- JAVA EE software stack: Tomcat / Glassfish, Java, PostgreSQL/Oracle
- AMP sofware stack: Apache, PHP, MySQL/PostgreSQL
and any of their combination.
All these softare stacks have been sucessfully installed on both Linux and Windows and on both physical servers and virtual machines.
Here below some few examples of the most recent systems installed by Spazio IT.
Small Windows Server
This is a small Windows Server, with a Windows 2003 Server 64bit, 512MB of RAM and 5GB of Hard Disk.
This is configuration is suitable for small OpenACS based installations with 1-5 users.
Big Windows Server
This is a Windows Server 2008 R2 with 4GB of RAM and 50 GB of HD. This supports hundreds of users. The size of the Hard Disk depends, in the case of OpenACS based system like .LRN or ]project-open[, on how much the file storage and the content repository are used.
Big Linux Server
This is a Linux Server similar to the big Windows Server in terms of performances. It is an Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit with 4 GB of RAM and 150 GB of Hard Disk. This configuration supports hundreds of users.
All the configurations described above suffer from the fact that they need a restart at night to work properly. In order to sustain a continuous uninterrupted 7/7 24/24 operation you need a cluster configuration. The cluster configuration installed by Spazio IT is described here.
OpenACS Software Stack
All these configurations, Linux or Windows, in case they are used as OpenACS platforms support the software stack described here.
Physical Servers and Virtual Machines
All these configurations have been installed on both physical servers and virtual machines. Spazio IT is an expert in providing VMware based Virtualization Solutions.
